One Lovely Blog Award

lovely-blog-award-1

I’m very excited to let you guys know that last week, Marjorie of Kyrosmagica nominated Bookin’ It for the One Lovely Blog Award. What a great surprise, Marjorie, and I thank you so much! So pleased you thought of me. Please stop by Kyrosmagica and say hi to Marjorie, a really nice lady with a cool blog. You’ll enjoy looking around there.

The rules for this award are:

1. Thank the person nominating you and link back to them in your post (See above! 🙂 )

2. Share seven things about yourself

3. Nominate fifteen or so bloggers you admire

4. Contact your chosen bloggers to let them know

~~~
Here are Seven Things About Me which you probably never knew. I’m sure you could get along fine without knowing them now, but I thought it would be fun to share them with you, anyway. 🙂
1. I’m tall. Nearly 5’11”. That’s close enough to six feet to look most men directly in the eyes, and to look down on a few of them, too. (Not that I’d ever REALLY look down on them, of course. At least not most of them.) But being that tall back in the day was an interesting way to grow up. I was in high school before I had to relinquish my status as the tallest person in the class…including the teacher. (I mean I was 5’5″ in 3rd grade!) Read more…
Sunday’s Blog of the Week: Sharechair
screen-shot-2012-09-11-at-6-23-35-pm
Are you a bonafide computer geek, knowledgeable in all things technological? No? Me, neither. Would you like to learn how to do more with the devices in your life, and have all the tips and tricks explained in easy-to-understand terms that make everything simple and clear? Me, too. That’s why I visit Sharechair: Everyday Technology for Everyday Folks so often.
From the most basic instructions on how to use your iPhone and iPad, to settings that require a bit more understanding, to fun games and apps, Sharechair will show you the way. And you’ll have a good time, too. The link I’m providing takes you to the About The Blog page, but the menu across the top will take you to all sorts of other goodies, like: All Things Kindle, How-To’s, iOS7, and Very Beginner Series. I’d suggest, however, starting at the tab marked New Visitors Please Start Here. (Sort of self-explanatory, that one.)
Wherever you start, if you own an iPad, a Kindle, or an iPhone, I bet you’ll learn a ton of stuff you never knew existed. I sure did. Stop by and say hi, then start finding out about all the cool things you can do that you never knew about before. Have fun!
Blog Sharing On Self-Publishing
In my Real Life, such as it is, I don’t know a single person who is currently writing a book, who plans to write a book, who has ever written a book in the past, or who even dreams of writing a book someday.  Man, do I hang out with boring people, or what?  Read more…
Blog Share!
Since I didn’t have a chance to nominate a new blog as part of my receiving another Blog of the Year star earlier, I figured I’d post my nomination(s) separately:
You MUST check out moviewriter.nyu !  I insist! *grin*  Seriously, it’s a very well written and funny blog, and it currently features several holiday stories that are hilarious.  One on Santa’s Reindeer, Donner, changing his name to Tony that I really enjoyed, and another about Father Time refusing to be forced into retirement on December 31, simply to make way for the Baby New Year.  Not only are the premises entertaining, but the writing is excellent.  I highly recommend this one.  And I’ll be back later, when I have time to scout out a couple more for your reading pleasure.
Enjoy!
Another Star!
Blog of the Year Award 2 star jpeg
Thanks to Sheri of Sheri de Grom for awarding me another star for the Blog of the Year 2012 Award!  I’m tickled to have it, Sheri, and I so appreciate your kind words!  I’m really pleased that you enjoy my reviews, and I hope you’ll continue to stop by to visit as often as you can.  I know I enjoy checking out your blog as well, and folks, you should, too.
  1. Select the blogs you think deserve the 2012 Blog of the Year Award.
  2. Write a blog post and tell us about the blog(s) you have chosen – there’s no minimum or maximum number of blogs required – and ‘present’ them with this award.
  3. Please include a link back to this page, Blog of the Year 2012 Award. http://thethoughtpalette.co.uk/ourawards.blog/of/the-year-2012-awardand include these ‘rules’ in your post. (Please don’t alter the rules or the badges!)
  4. Let the blog(s) you have chosen know that you have given them this award and share the ‘rules’ with them.
  5. You can now also join our Facebook page – click the link here ‘Blog of the Year 2012’ Award (http://www.facebook.com/groups/BookoftheYear/) and then you can share your blog with an even wider audience.
I’m going to have to sit down this afternoon to work up some nominations for this award to share here.  I haven’t been home much in the last few days, so I haven’t been able to focus on it, but I promise to get back to it SOON.
Thank you, again, Sheri.  It’s been nice getting to know you here on WordPress.  Have a great weekend!
A New Award!
It’s so nice to find out a reader likes your blog well enough to nominate you for an award.  Thanks to Patty at Thoughts From An American Woman for this particular honor. I’m really pleased! And I LOVE the subtext on the icon.  For me, it’s pretty much been the basic tenet of my whole life.
