What Are You Reading?
Happy Freya’s Day! And you know what Fridays are around here…why, What Are You Reading Day, of course! As usual, inquiring minds wanna know!
If you were visiting here at any time on Monday, you can probably guess what I’M reading…Skin Game, of course. Catching up with what the heck is happening in Harry Dresden’s ever-expanding world of madness, mayhem, and things that go bump in the night. Our Wizard, who has become so much more than just that, is in a mess once again, thanks to Mab, the Winter Queen of the Fae, and all-around cold-hearted, tough as nails, bad-ass ruler of her realm. Now that she has made Harry her Winter Knight, he has no choice but to obey her every command, grumbling and snarking every step of the way as he may. Between her and that parasitic thing he has growing in his head, Harry is changing. And some of his friends aren’t sure it’s in a good way. The book is EXCELLENT so far, and the only bad thing about reading it is that once I’m done, I’ll be waiting another LONG year or more for the next one. Oh, that Jim Butcher torments his fans so!

Bookin' It 
I am so desperate to read the Harry Dresden books! It seems to be forever on my to-read list, but never get around to getting them. They sound absolutely fantastic, and right up my street 😀
I’m reading The Perfume, a point horror book that I loved when younger and my mum bought me in celebration of my release day! It’s so strange going back to a book I read like 13 years ago and remembering just how much I loved it 😀

You won’t believe this…but the thing which jumped out at me the fastest from your comment is being “younger 13 years ago.” Hahaha. Thirteen years ago, I was watching 60 approach! 😀 I’m not familiar with The Perfume, nor the term “point horror.” What is that, exactly?
And oh, you MUST read the Dresden Files books. I think I’m going to start working my way through the entire series as giveaways, so even more people will see how great it is. (Not that the fan base isn’t enormous, already!)The first book is such a small, unimposing thing. I was intrigued immediately by all the potential, and couldn’t wait to read more, but I never dreamed how this series would grow and grow, and how unforgettable Harry Dresden would become. He RULES!! (Even when he doesn’t want to. Maybe especially when he doesn’t want to.)
And “release day?” Well, you know I want to know more about that? Have you released a book? If so, tell us about it so we can share it with the world.

Point Horror was part of the Goosebumps collection I think. It’s a teenage series of horror books, not exactly scary but fun reads 😀
I noticed there was a tv series of Dresden ages ago, and the title perked my interest so I went in search of the books. They sound so amazing!
My release day was Wednesday, I released 3 books at once, which was so much work, but worth it in the end! 😀

Thanks for the info on point horror. Cool. I couldn’t bring myself to watch the tv series because the casting was (in my opinion, can’t speak for others) bloody awful! Even Harry was poorly cast, bearing little resemblance to the character from the books. But I often feel that way about adaptations of books for tv or movies.

Do you all read one book at a time or several? I’m trying to keep up with so many things it seems like reading falls to the bottom of the list–it’s a ‘mental lubricant’, though…sets the imagination in motion. I love the James Rollins series about Sigma Force–scientists trained like special forces. Usually a bit of true science and then it takes off from there into a world of James Bond bad guys, world domination, stuff like that. Hoping to finish the “Eye of God” soon. Also reading Sophie Kinsella…Shopaholic. The movie was awful, the book better. Very British so a lot of ‘translating’ in my head as I read…brain stretches. Ha! Thanks for posting, Marcia.

Hi, Anna! Nice to hear from you. For myself, I usually am reading at least one non-fiction book (currently, mostly about improving my writing and marketing skills) and one fiction (currently, Skin Games, but also your book, A Dead Sister).Before I started writing, I often had 3 or 4 going at once, unless something grabbed me so hard, I couldn’t put it down until finished.
Sigma Force sounds interesting. Not so sure about Shopaholic, since shopping for anything other than books or plants is toxic to me. I’m that rare woman who is not at all interested in clothing, and buy most of my casual stuff from catalogs so I don’t have to spend valuable time trying things on. 🙂

I’m reading Unwrapped Sky, about minotaurs coming into a human city for a festival–and the city is in some pretty major unrest from workers rights, about ready to explode.
Also, Games Creatures Play, a collection based around a variety of games with serious consequences (with lots of names you’d recognize, like Charlaine Harris, Brandon Sanderson, Mercedes Lackey, Seanan McGuire…)
I have so many library books right now, I’m putting off my purchase of Skin Game a few days, so I’m not tempted to read it before I catch up to the books the library wants back soon.

Minotaurs, eh? That sounds unusual. Will check it out. And is this a new one of Charlaine’s anthologies? I collect good anthologies, and I remember seeing a couple of new ones were coming out. I will definitely want that! Love Sanderson and McGuire. Haven’t read Lackey. I don’t think Charlaine Harris rocks short stories, herself, but I’m willing to give another one a try. Unless it deals with the Sookie world past Book 10 in the series, when I gave up on it. 🙂 But I do want the anthology, so off to look for it. Thanks for posting today, Caitlin.
I’m still trying to format my book for print. It was going great until I saved it as a .pdf file, and now I have some issues with extra pages that are NOT in the document. So I’m going to have to wait until Nicki can delete them for me. I don’t have the Pro version of Adobe, and can’t do it from the Reader. *sigh* It’s always something with this part of the conversion. Nice to take a break and see what you are reading. I’m getting an Excedrin headache from this project! 😦
