Email Woes (And You Think YOU Get a Lot of Emails!)

Having serious email problems this morning, so if you wrote me, I probably won’t get it. RoadRunner is trying to send me 29,000 emails! Every email for the last 15 months is trying to come through this morning, and they can’t seem to stop it. The only emails NOT coming through are today’s!! I’ll get back to you when I can receive emails again, and maybe you can re-send anything important. Thanks! (Been on the phone with them for over THREE HOURS, so I’m tearing my hair out, here.)

  1. Sounds as if Wile E. Coyote finally won.

    • Where’s a giant anvil when you need one? *Looking up at sky, hoping to see it dropping on Wile E.* I’m still watching thousands of emails, dating clear back to the beginning of 2013, coming through on my email client. GAH. I’ve manually deleted over 8,000 myself! And THIS, while they tell me they are doing it from their end. It’s preposterous. And I’m NOT a happy camper this morning. Grrrr. 😦

That’s CRAZY! I’m scared to go to my RR account now. 🙂

    • Even crazier was when it got down to 5,000 left, it started over at 25,800. Back on the phone for another hour and a half (after 3 1/2 this morning) and now I can’t even access my RR WEBMAIL. I’m locked out. The tech is locked out. I have no email, and no idea what’s going to happen about it. I guess I’m going to be blogging and Facebooking, and Tweeting, and private messaging a LOT. But now, I’m going to go to sleep and pray that it heals itself overnight.

  3. That’s incredibly unhelpful! Good luck getting it all sorted out.

    • It was really ghastly, Caitlin, and I was frustrated to tears, literally. But I just posted that it miraculously “healed” itself overnight, with no help from anyone but RoadRunner. I wonder why? 🙂

      • Yay! Whatever they did wrong, they fixed, I’d guess. Glad it’s over–that would have been quite a task, wading through all those emails.

        • Well, you couldn’t even wade…they were just coming in as fast as you could imagine, and I had to keep highlighting large groups of them, deleting, and then emptying the Deleted Items folder. I was working 200 to 500 at a time, without a pause, as they were piling in, one on top of the other. I thought if I let all 38,000 of them land at once, the program would likely freeze, so I tried valiantly to stay ahead of them. Got down to 5,000 or so, and the dang thing started over again from ONE. I knew it was a lost cause, but I spent a total of nearly 5 hours on the phone with RoadRunner during it, and they weren’t able to stop it. Somehow it just got sorted after I gave up and went to bed.

I sure hope it stays sorted! I don’t think I can go through that again. :O And yes, YAY that it seems to be over.
