Bookin' It

So Many Books. So Little Time. Let's Review!

File This Under “What Was I Thinking?”

Okay. I admit it. I’m addicted to books. I’m addicted to reading books. I’m addicted to piling them all over my shelves, and stopping by them now and then just to pet the covers. But mostly, I am addicted to downloading Kindle books. Constantly. Especially FREE Kindle books. I have lots and lots of them waiting to be read. And by lots, I mean well over 350 of them. GAH. If I live to be 125, which is what I’m aiming for, I’ll never finish reading them all!

Add to that, the fact that I’ve got at least five books I’ve promised to read and review waiting for me, and oh, yeah…I’m writing a second novel, myself, which is a Time Suck of astronomical proportions. Where, oh where, in all of this, have I left myself time to LIVE MY LIFE?? I really don’t know. But I can’t think about it right now…the latest BookGorilla email just arrived. Free books are calling me! Later, boys and girls!

  1. I see I found not only a sister in Christ but a book sister as well. 😀 I love books and the scent of new books is like the scent of new fabric, I loose all senses and don’t come to until I am home with bags of books and fabric all around me!! LOL Happy Reading!

    • Ha, with me, it’s books and plants. I can’t pass by a nursery without stopping to look for flowers and shrubs. Reading and growing things are what I love most. Except for writing, of course. And you are a much better sister than I. I’m afraid you might think my beliefs are a bit unusual, but it’s all good. To my mind, it’s having faith that matters, even if it’s different from your neighbor’s.

  2. You were thinking more books is better. 🙂

I overindulged on my free eBooks, too. But because I get a bit anxious about overlong lists, I went through and knocked off the books that looked more so-so. Maybe I’ll miss out on a good book from that, but there is only so much time…

    • You are a stronger woman than I, Caitlin. I not only have my Kindle overloaded, but my bookshelves are groaning, too. And yet…I don’t get rid of stuff. I have books I started and HATED still taking up space on my shelves. I just made myself throw out about 6 years’ worth of gardening MAGAZINES that I hadn’t been able to part with. I have all the natural selective discretion of a compulsive hoarder! 😉 I hope I don’t see a TV truck pulling into my yard one of these days, ready to do an expose on my out of control book obsession. 😯

      • I held onto books once, too. College texts I loathed, magazines, everything and anything. One day, some sort of switch flipped in my brain, I guess.

Though if I had as many bookshelves as you do, maybe that switch would have stayed on ‘collect.’ 😉
