Christmas Quote #9 – Charles Dickens
“I have always thought of Christmas time, when it has come round, as a good time; a kind, forgiving, charitable time; the only time I know of, in the long calendar of the year, when men and women seem by one consent to open their shut-up hearts freely….”
~Charles Dickens~
I like Charles Dickens, I read much of it in school. I do not recall this.

I believe this is a personal quote, rather than from a book, but I could be wrong. It’s a lovely thought, though, either way.

I was thinking the same thing, but I haven’t read all of his works. Lovely quote, thanks for sharing it Marcia. 🙂

You’re welcome, Elizabeth. Thanks for stopping by and taking the time to comment. I really enjoy hearing from visitors.
I’m afraid I’m not familiar enough with Dickens to know for certain about most of his quotes. A Christmas Carol is the only one of his tales I’ve read all the way through. I feel guilty about that, and I AM familiar with the overall plots of many of his stories, but somehow, I always got bogged down in his writing. I’m not sure why. I quite enjoy many authors from days long gone by, but somehow never quite connected with Dickens style. I do love character studies of his various villains and urchins, though. One of these days, I need to give him another try. Maybe by now, I will have learned how to enjoy the actual works, themselves.
