Bookin' It

So Many Books. So Little Time. Let's Review!

It’s Friiiiday . . . What Are You Reading?

Well, it’s that time again! Time for me to be nosy and ask, what are you reading? I just love finding out what’s holding your interest this week.

For me, I’m discovering the fun of Libriomancer by Jim C. Hines. It’s an amusing romp through the world of magic as practiced by those with the gift of being able to reach INTO books and pull objects out, including at times, creatures and characters that would be best left between the pages. Because of the misuse of this magic, the world is filled with a lot of things that really oughtn’t be here, like many species of vampires, as created by various authors . . . to include one of the oldest forms, Sanguinarius stokerus, and one of the more modern forms, Myerii, or Sparklers, as they are called. I can’t wait to review this one. It has made me laugh out loud numerous times, already.

So . . . where’s your bookmark parked this week? As always, inquiring minds wanna know.

  1. I finished “Unnatural Creatures” which had a couple of good ones at towards the end, I thought. As with a lot of themed anthologies, I think it would be better enjoyed if you read a story or two from it BETWEEN other things. Too many similarly themed stories in a row get a little stultifying. Overall, good not great.

Almost to the end of “IT” (this week? next week tops) on audiobook, and am enjoying “Save Yourself” by Kelly Braffet.

    • I agree that it is more fun to read anthologies one story at a time, between other books. I do it both ways, but that’s my favorite. I’m not finished with Unnatural Creatures yet, and will review it when I am done, but it has some interesting things in it, for sure.

Can’t believe you have stuck with “It.” You are a strong man! Hahaha. Maybe it’s easier in audio form, but sadly, my hearing is not what it should be, and I use closed-captioning, even on TV. I would forever be backing it up going, “Huh? What’d he say?”

I will check out “Save Yourself,” thanks. Love hearing what everyone is up to. (Apparently this weekend, whatever they are up to doesn’t include visiting here! :D)

      Glad you stopped by!
