My Star by Robert Browning

procyon_canis_minor

All that I know
Of a certain star,
Is, it can throw
(Like the angled spar)
Now a dart of red,
Now a dart of blue,
Till my friends have said
They would fain see, too,
My star that dartles the red and the blue!
Then it stops like a bird,—like a flower, hangs furled,
They must solace themselves with the Saturn above it.
What matter to me if their star is a world?
Mine has opened its soul to me; therefore I love it.

NOTE: And this one is irresistible, as well.

    I enjoyed this, also. Thanks.
I wish, I could go to a poetry reading. I love them. There were so many when I lived in NY. I can always go listen to the horses. 🙂

    • You will have to “hear” you own poetry, Felix, in a horse’s soft breath against your cupped hands, or in the call of a summer owl late at night. And then you can read it, as well, and hear that voice in your head repeating the words. (Assuming the voice in your head isn’t as obnoxious as some of the ones in mine!) There are some good things in the Silver and Green anthologies, too.
