So Many Books. So Little Time. Let's Review!

The Dangers of Pre-Ordering…

DoubleFacePalm

…especially when you are OLD and have all the thought-retaining abilities of a sieve!  The approaching release date of new books in 3 of my favorite series had me SO excited, I rushed over to amazon.com to go ahead pre-order them.  Tuesday, I received notice that they had shipped. And then I received another notice that the same order I had placed 3 weeks earlier had shipped, too.  GAH.  Now I have two copies of Rob Thurman’s “Slashback,” and two of Seanan McGuire’s “Midnight Blue-Light Special.” DOH! *facepalm, here*

Luckily for me, my best friend and reading buddy is also following both series, so I have a home for my extra books. “Oh, Nicki, dearest friend…look what I have bought, JUST FOR YOOOOU. Honest. I meant to do it.”  Do you think she’ll buy that?

The good news is, I have now added both of those books to my To Be Read pile, along with the latest by Patricia Briggs,  “Frost Burned.” (Thankfully, I only ordered ONE of those.) The basket is now officially over-flowing! I’m rich!

😀

Have any of you done anything like this before?  (I’m really hoping it’s not just me!)

  1. This has never happened to me, but I can see how easily it could.

    • You are obviously a very well-organized person…and…YOUNG! Never underestimate how many things that helps!

      😀
But, I’m not complaining really. I’m still here, and still crazy after all these years, so who cares if I get a few books too many? Or forget what I went to the store for? Or leave the stove on after I’m done cooking? Oh, wait. THAT one is kinda important, I guess.

      😉

Thanks for stopping by maedez. Always nice to see you.

    • See, you are obviously more well organized than I, too, Susana! And of course, you’ve got that YOUNG thing going for you, as well. *grin* Here’s hoping you stay smarter than I for a long time!

  3. Oh, yes, Marcia, yes yes yes. I recently bought a 3 pack of ketchup from Sam’s Club, only to come home and see that I already bought a big 3 pack sometime ago. Been there, done that! (too often!!) Nicki will be so pleased that you thought of her. 🙂

    • YAY! Finally someone has done something just as stupid…I mean…FORGETFUL. I feel so much better now! Thank you, thank you, Sharechair! Yes, Nicki will be thrilled and then she’ll think she owes me lunch or something. See…I can parlay this into a GOOD thing, if I’m crafty enough. Shhh. Let’s keep it our secret, eh?

  4. I have totally tried to do this several times. So far, I’ve gotten the ‘you’ve already ordered this message’ from Amazon before I can order two copies.
I wonder why you didn’t get the same…
Sorry I didn’t post a comment about nominating you for the Shine Award! I saw you comment on the post, so I thought you’d just go ahead and be nominated. Silly me. 🙂
Here’s the link to the post so you don’t have to look for it.

  5. I get that message if I’m double ordering on Kindle, but I’ve never gotten it when I set up a pre-order for actual shipment. Hmmm. Interesting. Of course, I THINK this is the only time I’ve ever double ordered a REAL book. Maybe there’s hope for me.

Haha, on the award. I’ve only gotten a few, and they’ve always alerted me by posting on my blog. I’m fine with it this way. I’m just pleased to have received your nomination, and I will go ahead now and post about it here, and answer all the questions, etc, etc.

    THANKS, again!!

    • Oh, yeah, you’re totally supposed to notify people by posting on their blog. It’s even in the rules.
I saw *your* comment on *my* post, and it apparently short-circuited my brain.
      So it goes.

      • It’s so great to know that other people get that short-circuiting thing, too. I always assume it’s just me!
        😀

I’m just thrilled about the award, no matter how I got the message. It’s all up now, in case you didn’t see it. And I answered all the questions, too.
        😉
