Early Release of The Green Anthology!

cover1front

It’s OUT!

Wooohooo!  The Green Anthology has been released early, just in time for your favorite GREEN holidays and things…like St. Patrick’s Day, for one.  That’s my personal favorite green-themed day, and I’m sure the fact that it’s also my birthday has nothing to do with it. Much.  *wink-wink, nudge-nudge*

Seriously, this anthology is just jam-packed with “poetry, short stories, novel excerpts, an author interview, memoirs, and poetic essays that touch on the theme of green in creative, fresh, and compelling ways.” I’m so proud to be a part of it! (To see my personal contribution, go here.)

Here is a sample of the kinds of things waiting for you in the Green Anthology.  This poem is by Amy Lowell, one of my very favorite poets of all time, and a very interesting and somewhat controversial woman. Her poem, “Patterns” was required reading back in the Day. (MY day, of course!) She died in 1925, having left behind a legacy of work that remains relevant, even today. This particular poem is certainly relevant to the Green Anthology.

THE GREEN BOWL

by Amy Lowell

This little bowl is like a mossy pool
In a Spring wood, where dogtooth violets grow
Nodding in chequered sunshine of the trees;
A quiet place, still, with the sound of birds,
Where, though unseen, is heard the endless song
And murmur of the never resting sea.
’Twas winter, Roger, when you made this cup,
But coming Spring guided your eager hand
And round the edge you fashioned young green leaves,
A proper chalice made to hold the shy
And little flowers of the woods. And here
They will forget their sad uprooting, lost
In pleasure that this circle of bright leaves
Should be their setting; once more they will dream
They hear winds wandering through lofty trees
And see the sun smiling between the leaves.

I hope some of you will check out the Green Anthology on amazon.com for yourself. I’m really eager to get my hands on a copy, for sure. And NOT just because I have a poem included, though that’s pretty special to me.

Green: An Eclectic Anthology of Poetry & Prose (Silver Birch Press Anthologies) (Volume 2)

If you decide to place an order with amazon, clicking through from my links will give me credit.  If you are enjoying  my reviews on Bookin’ It, it’s a great way to let me know!  Thanks!
