Some Really Exciting News!

A Wonderful Collection of Poems, Short Stories,  Essays, Novel Excerpts, and Stage Play Scenes

(Fresh From Silver Birch Press)

One of the most exciting things in my whole life happened to me just before the end of 2012–I was invited to submit a poem to Silver Birch Press to be included in their new anthology, appropriately entitled Silver!  It was close to the submission deadline, and all I had pertaining to the overall silver theme was a very short (11 lines) descriptive poem called “Silver Swirls.” Imagine my surprise and delight when it was accepted! Then imagine how I felt when I discovered I was included in a book filled with work from some of my favorite poets of the past, and many terrific contemporary writers and poets, as well.  To be included alongside talent of this quality amazes me, and I’m still pinching myself to be sure it isn’t a dream.

I love everything presented in Silver, but I’m especially pleased at the large selection of beautiful poetry included.  I gave several copies of the book to various friends and members of my family for Christmas, and lo and behold!  They are now reading POETRY.  And liking it!  This makes me really happy, as I have been fretting for years over the fact that not enough people do any more,  especially the classic poems I studied in school, back in the Dark Ages Plus, it’s pretty hard to find many books of contemporary poetry at local bookstores, as well, making this new release even more exciting!

Thank you, Silver Birch Press, for including “Silver Swirls” in your anthology.  I will never forget the thrill of having a poem published!

If you enjoy poetry, short stories, essays and more, I hope you’ll check out Silver.  It’s eclectic, entertaining, and exciting, and features the works of 62 writers, past and present, including–believe it or not–me.  What a great way to end a year.

  4. Thanks, Kathy! It really is thrilling, for sure. It made my day/month/year!
The book is a lot of fun, and I’m hoping to get a submission accepted into the next anthology they are doing. We’ll see how that goes. It makes working on my own book a lot more fun, and makes me think anything is possible, even this point in my life. Nice to see you tonight!

  6. Thank you, Steve. Having a short poem published is a small thing in the grand scheme of the writing world, but for me, it’s huge. And fun! And now my best friend refers to me as “My friend, Marcia…the writer.” Hahaha.

  9. That would be lovely, Susana. I hope you are right. I’m really getting into the “meat” of my book now, and loving writing it. It would be great to get a few more written in the next couple of years. I’m workin’ on it! Thanks for the congratulations! It was a fun thing to have happen.
