My Ever-Growing “To Be Read” Pile!
Can You See Me? I’m Standing Right Behind The Pile!
Oh, all right, already! You caught me! I’m not really in this picture. And that really isn’t my To Be Read pile. But it might as well be. Geeesh, I’ve gotten behind! And the worst part of it is that there are so many really good things waiting for me to delve into, I don’t know which one to grab first. That was my problem yesterday. Should I go ahead and read the second Lizzy and Diesel book, while Wicked Appetite was still fresh in my mind? Or should I start the next From The Edge book, Steel’s Edge, and lose myself in another wonderful story by Ilona Andrews? What to do, what to do?? I couldn’t decide. I tried eeny-meeny-miney-moe, but I kept cheating. I drew straws, but I cheated on that, too. Finally, I did the only thing left. I started BOTH books and am reading them simultaneously. Well, not at the exact same time, of course. That’s just silly! But I read an hour or two in one, and then after a break, I read an hour or two in the other. So far, it’s working, but I have a feeling that I will soon become so engrossed in one or the other that I will have to finish it the rest of the way before switching again.
Do you ever read more than one book at the same time? It’s really no different than watching two TV shows in the same evening, I guess, but it’s not something I would recommend on a regular basis. Just if the eeny-meeny-miney-moe thing doesn’t work for ya!

I frequently read more than one book at a time. There’s always a novel in the car (I never know when hubby wants to make an unexpected stop at the hardware store), a novel by my bedside, one by my living room chair and I carry my Kindle in my handbag. I also keep notebooks in the same places just in case I get the urge to write something larger than a note. I’ve been doing this for about ten years and so far it’s worked out okay.

Good to know, Sheri. I carry little notepads, too, plus I use an app on my iPhone for shorter lists and basic ideas. I don’t usually have more than two books going at a time, unless it’s non-fiction. Those I read along with other stuff regularly. But novels, if they are GOOD, usually require a larger investment of my time, and I find myself thinking about them and the characters in them even when I’m not sitting down to read. Two is about all the investment I can manage at once. Plus, I seldom read during the day (too busy around here), so my reading time is limited to evenings, and one or two is all I can fit into that time frame. Even now, I’ve backed off of Steel’s Edge to go ahead and finish up Wicked Business. It’s a light, fast read, so I decided just to focus on it for now, and then get back to Steel’s Edge, which I think will be one I want to concentrate on a bit more, from the parts I’ve already read.
It’s nice to know others who do read more than one book at a time, though. Sometimes it’s the best option. Good to see you this morning! Hope you have a great day.

I usually have at least two going on at the same time. Actually I like your picture I am tempted to copy it and frame it!! LOL I thought having a kindle would help me not buying more books, wrong, now I buy on kindle and hardcover! I can’t win!! 🙂 The kindle fits nicely in my purse for when we are out and about buy when I curl up I still prefer an old fashioned book!

Oh, the Kindle just helps you with your addiction! Didn’t you know that? I have a whole bunch of Category Folders set up in mine, with a Read and an Unread folder for each category. It’s the only way I can keep up with Kindle books, which I collect as fast as I do REAL ones. I love reading on both. Actually, I often find that holding paperbacks open can make my fingers and thumbs hurt, so the Kindle can be more comfortable. But I would never give up real books completely. The more of them I have on my bookshelves, the richer I feel. *grin* And certain series, I just have to own, even if I’ve already read them on my Kindle. Plus, there’s the COVER ART. Ooooh, I love good cover art.
Let’s face it. Some of us are hopeless where our books are concerned. I know I am, for sure.

You are so right – I am hopeless when it comes to my books! 😉 Like you I have my kindle all set up in folders and categories. Not only are we addicted to books we are well organized too!! ha ha Many happy days reading in the New Year.

And to you, Patty! (As for my being well organized, yes and no. Yes, the things I love are just so. But the things I’m not interested in can pile up and fall over and block the hallways, and I don’t much care! Eeep.)
