Cold Days is Giving Me Cold Feet!
Ack. Have you ever been so involved in a book that you were almost afraid to turn the page? That’s how I’m feeling about Jim Butcher’s latest in the Dresden Files series, Cold Days. The suspense is killing me, and I keep finding myself wanting to flip to the final pages and see how it turns out before reading any more. Now folks, this is something I have never done ONCE in my entire reading life, which encompasses a LOT of years, believe me. But dang. Between not knowing if Harry can save half of the country from being obliterated, and not knowing who the heck he’s finally going to give his heart to (assuming he makes at least SOME steps in that direction before this book is over), I’m in agony, here. Take a guess which one is worrying me the most. Hint: I have every confidence that Harry will somehow save the world, yet again. But man, I don’t know if Butcher will get it right on that other issue. And yes, I’ll admit it. As a hopeless romantic, THAT’S the issue that worries me the most as I approach the halfway point in this book. Message to Jim Butcher: you screw this up and I’m coming for you, myself, and believe me, nothing you’ve ever dreamed up for these books will be scarier!!!
Okay, dire warnings done, I can now say that this book is, so far, excellent in all the right ways. I’m trying to overlook the emotional torture, and concentrate on the fact that once again, Harry is in the proverbial pickle without a paddle. Oh, wait. I mean, he’s up the creek without a pickle. Ummm…that can’t be right, either. Let’s just say, he’s in big trouble on too many levels to even mention in one post. I will be back with a full review, when I get to the end.
*going off now, muttering to self* “I will not peek, I will not peek, I will not……………”

“Fuego”, “Forzare” ! I know he will save the country and I have a good feeling that he will end up with that Blond short gal. HA HA HA.

Oh, yes, Felix! You should have forzare-ed it right into your mailbox. It is really something, so far. And it is SO good to hear Harry’s voice (in my head, with all the other voices) again. There have been several lines I wanted to save for quotes. I was tempted to highlight them, but couldn’t bear to mark up my book. As for the little blonde…Butcher has viciously and fiendishly given us pause for concern in that regard. I can say no more. My lips are sealed. (Okay, THAT’S not likely to happen…but I won’t say any more on THIS topic.)
😀
Can’t wait for you to read it so we can talk! Have a great day, mi amigo! Give everyone my love.
(PS…I won’t really peek. After all the blasting I did at Nicki for that, I wouldn’t dare. She’d skin me alive. Besides, my rule of thumb is, if Harry has to suffer through it to reach that point, so do I. It’s the least I can do for him!)
