So Many Books. So Little Time. Let's Review!

Good Morning, Everyone!

(Probably My Favorite in the Entire Series)

It’s finally cool here in central Florida–and by cool, I mean 50-ish at night, and 70-ish in the daytime–so I should be working in my yard, cleaning up the mess from late summer.  But after 5 days of hauling tree debris around and trying to make a dent in that particular mess, I really don’t feel like it.  The garden will have to wait a bit longer, I’m afraid.  And then, there’s my latest distraction:  COLD DAYS IS HERE!!!  Within hours of finishing up Biting Cold, it appeared on my doorstep, and let me tell you, I’m thrilled.  I read the first 5 chapters after dinner last night, and I’m loving it already.  Something about “hearing” Harry’s voice again makes my world a more interesting and fun place.  I don’t know where this story is going to take him, since he has found himself in a whole new world, with the big unknown lying in wait for him,  but I’m going along for the ride, regardless.  I just hope he can find his way back home, to those who have loved him for years and years, in particular one very small, very tough little blonde gal that I personally think he belongs with.  But so far, he doesn’t seem to be missing her much, so who knows?  At any rate, I’ll soon find out,  and I’ll be reviewing the book immediately upon completion.  You can count on it!  In the meantime, have a great day!

  1. You deserve a break from yard work!

  2. My thoughts, exactly, SC. And Harry is just the guy to take a break with…if you don’t mind your break including battling the forces of good and evil, flinging fireballs of destruction from your blasting rod at various monsters, and finding some way to get out of the clutches of the supremely evil Mab, Queen of the Fae. Luckily, I don’t mind that at all, and am, in fact, looking forward to every bit of it. I’ll write today, finish some household chores that have been neglected all week, and then settle into the Comfy Chair tonight, to fight the good fight with Harry Blackstone Copperfield Dresden, Wizard Extraordinaire, and all-round Good Guy. With a great duster. And a killer sense of Snark.

    Harry, take me awaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay……………………..

  3. Hi Marcia!

I have yet to read the Dresden Files *hides*. My husband, however, is a HUGE fan and we went to Mr. Butcher’s signing in Seattle on Tuesday! It was held in a church and the place was packed. Jim was fantastic and so very funny. Amongst all the questions he graciously answered he mentioned that he is working on a new series. To paraphrase his description: It will be Steampunk meets Sherlock Holmes meets X-men! Sounds really interesting doesn’t it?

Needless to say the hubby is devouring COLD DAYS as well and keeps filling me in with whats going on with Harry, even though I haven’t read them! Lol. Enjoy your time with Harry 😉

  4. Hi, Negine! Nice to see you here. Congratulate your husband on his excellent taste in Urban Fantasy. Smack yourself on the head, though, for not giving it try. It isn’t just the story…it’s Harry, himself. He’s so wonderful, you can’t help but love him. Lucky you, getting to go to see Jim Butcher in person. I’d love to meet him. I have seen videos and know he is funny. Yes, the new series sounds very interesting, though I will really miss Harry when this one finally winds down. I guess I’ll just have to start over from the beginning.

Thanks for stopping by. AND FIND SOME TIME TO READ THE DRESDEN FILES!! You don’t know what you are missing, girl. Hubby’s comments can’t possibly do it justice, honestly.

  5. Marcia, please do not let the cat out of the bag. I want all the suspense and exitement when I read the book. Great reading. Lean back and enjoy.
I have been cleaning out all the muck and debris out of the fish pond for the last three weeks. Jeremy helps when he gets home from work. The pond looks way bigger, since we took out the umbrella palm that had been growing there for several years. We had to use the tractor. So I’ve had a mess of my own.

  6. Not letting anything out of the bag at all, Felix. The fireball comments are on ongoing thing in every book, and the comment about Mab was explained in great detail in Ghost Story, so you’re fine. I will never put spoilers in my reviews without a big alert. And I can only think of once that I did that, so you are safe, my friend.

I’m looking forward to seeing your pond when I visit. (You know…that mythical visit I keep talking about, which never seems to work out?) Seriously, I miss you guys and want to see what you’ve been up to and meet the beautiful Celia.
