The Girl Who Chased The Moon by Sarah Addison Allen
My Rating: 5 of 5 Stars
Of the four wonderful books that Sarah Allen Addison has written, The Girl Who Chased The Moon is so utterly beautiful, it made my heart sing as I read it. I love this book almost as much as Allen’s first, Garden Spells. The story is positively enchanted (just as the blurbs read), and the magic that spreads through the town of Mullaby, South Carolina, is full of surprises for all. And…there’s a GIANT. How can you not love a book with a giant? I certainly couldn’t. Add to that the scent of baking cakes, wafting on the wind, and bringing love closer each day, and you have an absolutely delicious read.
Allen writes of magic and enchantment in such a way as to make the impossible a mere fact of life. You don’t question a word of it, and are swept along with people you will never forget, having equally unforgettable experiences as you go. When you finish a book like Garden Spells or The Girl Who Chased The Moon, you find you believe just a little bit more in love, and beauty, and hope than you did before reading it. And that’s a fine thing.
