Wither & Fever by Lauren DeStefano

Lauraen DeStefano's Wither Cover

MY RATING:  4 of 5 Stars

This was really a pleasant surprise to me. An unusual premise, interesting & mostly believable characters, and a forbidding mood that lingered for quite awhile after I finished the book.   Quite nice for a Young Adult book, and worth the time to check out.  Definitely glad I had the second book in the series ready to go.

Lauren DeStefano's Fever Cover

MY RATING:  4 of 5 Stars

Wow! The sequel to Wither, which I liked very much, was worth the wait. It is even darker & more disturbing, if possible, than Wither, and the last few pages left me reading faster and faster, in a near frenzy to find out if there would be ANY happiness ahead for Rhine at all. There’s a lot of “Grim” in this book, and I did find it depressing at times. But it also has a relentless determination to explore the human capacity for hope, no matter how dire the circumstances might be. MY hope is that Rhine finally will find a measure of peace before her tale is over. I’m really looking forward to the last book in the trilogy.

Anyone else read these?  Thumbs up or thumbs down?
